I am sure that everybody realizes of the importance of computer securities these days. Specially when a computer virus can develope so fast from one day to the other. If your AntiVirus software is not frequently updated, your computer will be faced with disaster. Therefore an AntiVirus software needs to be installed in your computer. The main reason why anyone wants to protect their computer is to keep their important files or business documents safe. Virus from the internet can completely destroy all your files and documents. You may overlook the importance of an AntiVirus software. You may also think that “With having an AntiVirus software installed your computer is not at risk”. Actually, you do not only need to have it but also update it and test it. I have a tip for you to test the ability of your AntiVirus software by creating an artificial virus to trick your own computer. Don’t panic! It is true that this is a virus but it does not affect your computer at all whether the AntiVirus software is installed into your computer or not. Therefore you do not need to worry about its effect, believe me !
How to create the artificial virus.com to trick your computer ?
- Open the NotePad program.
- Type this code like below into the NotePad file.
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H* - Save the Notepad file as virus.com . To comfortably find the virus.com, I suggest placing it in the Desktop.
- Run the virus.com file to test your computer efficiency. If there are not any responses from the AntiVirus software, I suggest changing your AntiVirus immediately because it does not work anymore.
- Enjoy testing it and note that this virus.com cannot affect or damage any parts of your computer.

Bitdefender found it.
Thanks for the tip.
Take care,
I tried this and now I’m receiving popups from NOD32 and Norton constantly. The alerts say that the file is named tmpXXX.tmp(where X is a letter or number) in C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\ and the virus name is EICAR Test String. I know the file is not malicious, but this is becoming really annoying because when I click Ok on the alerts I immediately receive a new alert afterwards. I tried system restore which didn’t work and then I tried going into safe mode and deleting the tmp file manually and then I did a full system scan and both Norton and NOD32 brought up no viruses, so I restarted, but I got the same pop up alerts in Norton and NOD32.
Does anyone know what’s wrong?

Did you delete the virus.com file yet ?
Ok I fixed my problem. Apparently Norton and NOD32 were not cooperating together and NOD32 was restricting access to the files as Norton was trying to access them. I uninstalled NOD32, then booted into safe mode and did a full system scan again with Norton and Norton found the EICAR test string in C:\RECYCLER so I deleted it and rebooted and now everything seems to be fine.
