Laptop Overheating said in November 24th, 2008 at 7:03 pm

The overheating fix may be at the computer ventilation level, rather than the heatsink level. A lot of times, the heat sink works as planned, but the system as a whole breaks down because the airflow is blocked by dust and dirt. In other cases, the heat sink works as well as it possibly can, but a poor design with inadequate ventilation means you need a chill pad or external fan to move heat away so the computer doesn’t burn out.
